Wow, October is a good
press release month for Wonderful Sport Horses. DressageDaily.com
kindly included a picture of Windrous, a son of Wonderful, in it s report on
Region 1 Championship. Windrous is a 9-year-old gelding competing at
the 3rd level. You can read the article at: http://www.dressagedaily.com/2003/dd_200310/dd_20031017a.html
|
 |
In addition, another
article has information on Rubino Bellissimo's win of USDF Region 7
Championship with the picture of Rubino Bellissimo and Nicole
Perry, but unfortunately. It talked about the
numerous talented riders and horses. Click the following link to see

Nicole Perry and Rubino
Bellissimo were successful once again at the USDF Regional 7 Championship
and CDS Horse of the Year Annual Show. This young pair continues to
amaze all the dressage enthusiasts. Following their domination at the
First and Second Levels in 2001 and the Third Level last year, they have
accelerated directly into FEI level and been successful in both Prix St.
George and Intermediare-I Levels. The incredible results at
the Championships include:
 |
Champion for
USDF Regional 7 Prix St. George with score of 67.25% (out of 18 entries) |
 |
Reserve Champion
for CDS Horse of the Year Prix St. George with score of 67.5% (out of 27
entries) |
 |
3rd for USDF
Intermediare-I with score of 64.375% (out of 14 entries) |
 |
3rd for CDS
Intermediare-1 Musical Freestyle with a score of 68.5% (out of 10
entries) |
|
Rubi is the youngest entry
at age 7. He competed two classes a day, and Nicole also rode Rubino's
stable mate, another recent notoriety - Adara Partner's Contester, the
Stallion Champion and Reserve Grand Champion at Devon Breed show, to 5th place
for both First Level (out of 34 entries) and CDS Futurity (out of 16 entries).
Many thanks to Nicole not
only for
her not only great riding skills, but also her dedication and
determination, and to Willy Arts of DG Bar Ranch for all his help with their
training.
I have to add that their
Freestyle was actually a completely brand new routine put together right after
Nicole came back from Devon, and only 4 days before the show .
Stephanie, a talented young rider in the DG Bar Ranch family, helped Nicole
with the music editing on her computer. They are two amazingly creative
young ladies. Many thanks to both of them.
I have the entire ride
on-line, but it's 40 mg, so the best way to download it is via Kazaar (to be
set up).
However, you can click here to find some short
clips for the award ceremonies.

More good news on show
results: Weltinvador, by Wonderful Sport Horse's first imported stallion
Welt Klasse out of Vienna Vanity, owned by Beverly Nahman and ridden by Jeni
Garstecki achieved high points award again at their third show in
Ohio. They received 72.7% and 70.7% for their Training Level 4 and
First Level 1 tests. Beverly reported that the judges and TDs were all
asking about his breeding. Welt Klasse's offspring is just now
starting to compete, and shine. Unfortunately he has gone to the
rainbow bridge; however I have high hope that his offspring will demonstrate
how a good and careful breeding can make a difference in sport. |

An update from our breeder Linda Jaskiel

Check out this website for the pictures of "Wonder Woman" being born!
Wonder Woman is a 2003 filly by Wonderful out of Capikhan, a successful 3-day
eventing mare. |

Violet is back from a vacation in Germany and
France. The first half was all horses, the second was all family (so close
to horses as we were at Saumur and Chambord, but no horses.). Stay tuned
for more news on old friends visited and new friends met in Germany, the World
Dressage Young Horse Championships, and updates on Monti. |
 |
On Aug. 23, Rubino Bellissimo and Nicole were
big stars at Dressage at Wine Country in Napa. They performed a musical
freestyle all dressed as "The King", and rock and roll'ed in front of a crowd of
nearly 3000! I can't wait to see the video. It should be here in 2
weeks. |

More Wonderful's offspring at the shows...
 |
 |
Well, you may have known about Winwood,
the 8-year-old gelding by Wonderful. He has been very successful with his
owner/trainer Heather Bender, winning PSG and I-1 at Florida shows. |
 |
Wakkidu, a newly imported gelding by
Wonderful is fulfilling his amateur owner's dream now. His new owner
Shannon reported that Vakky showed the very first time in the US with their
trainer Amy Lewis at a big-time show in their area: Lamplight Equestrian Center,
Wayne, IL. Vakky received top placings at First Level with extremely
positive remarks from all judges. Here is a snapshot taken by Shannon's
husband's cell phone camera. Isn't it neat? He certainly looks like
a wonderful Wonderful's boy even at this resolution. :-) Quietly standing by
himself waiting for Amy to get ready definitely showed off his nice temperament.
Wakkidu was ridden and shown to L level by a 16-year-old girl when he was in
Germany. |
 | Wonderful Pik, a US bred
youngster, who just turned 4 is also ready to show! I saw him at
the Pebble Beach show, but unfortunately he was allergic to
something there, and developed hives in the saddle area, so he didn't
get to show. No doubt that we will hear more about him in the
future. |

Yippie! Mary Pawlak
reported great news from Georgia - Rubino Bellissimo's first son Rubaron
von Foxpaw, bred by Mary, now two years old, and 16.2 hands, won
BIG at a sporthorse breed show last weekend with score of 86%.
He swept all classes, and barely missed out on the Grand Champion as he was
distracted by a loose stallion chasing mares around before his
presentation. See his show records: http://www.goodhorseman.org/results/6_78_03breed.htm |
 |
From CDS Dressage Letters
- Welt Klasses' babies are winning in dressage: Welt Markt ridden by Debra
Thomas won First Level Test 2 with score 69.70%. Wee Willie ridden by
Donna Richardson won Training level test 3 and 4 with 70.83% and 71.92%
respectively. With very limited production, Wonderful Sport Horses'
stallions are definitely making contributions to the dressage sport. |

Nicole and Rubino Bellissimo
performed great again! This time at DG Bar. They received 64.75%, 65% and
67.5% and got two seconds and a third at prix St. George level. After
the show, Nicole also rode him to show me how consistent he has been with
2-tempis, piaff and passage. Video clips
coming soon... |
 |
Welt Klasse's babies have
grown up and are making their Daddy proud at the Rainbow Bridge.
 |
Weltinvader, bred and
owned by Beverly Nahman recently went to his first show with Jennifer
Garstecki, a student of George Williams. Weltinvader and Jennifer
were the high point at the
show with a score of 75%. He received 9 on gaits.
Congratulations to Beverly and Jennifer. (Click
here to see pictures.) |
 |
Wee Willy also
competed at
DG Bar show last weekend, ridden by Donna Richardson. He received
scores over 71% and won or placed highly in the classes he
entered. Wee Willy is not wee at all, but pretty big; however, he
is forward, sensitive and sensible. This magnificent horse is for
sale or lease to good home. Please contact Donna Richardson. (760)

Here is a video
of Welteje (by Welt Klasse X Diamont mare) showing off her beautiful trot when she was 2 years
old. Look at the suspension and overstrides! She is
actually qualified as a pinto with white legs above knees. She is
bred by Sportin' Horses, but not for sale. Other Welt Klasse
offspring are available, please check out the "For

Rubino Bellissimo showed
well at Del Mar. Nocole and Rubino consistently scored 65+% for all
four Prix St. George classes and ranked highly among tough competitions at
Del Mar. |
 |
Wonderful's 8-year-old
son Winwood with owner/rider Heather Bender scored 67+% and won at Intermediare-I in Florida. |

Rubino Bellissimo has started
to shine at FEI level. Nicole Perry competed him at another large show
last weekend - Golden State Festival, and they showed at Prix St. George
level. He was second in one class, and won one class with score of
67+% from S judge Gary Rockwell, who also made a personal comment on Rubino
being a very nice stallion. Video clips are
available on-line. We are all extremely pleased with the superb
progress with Nicole and Rubino. |
 | Rubino's next show will
be at Del Mar on April 24-27. |
 |
We have started shipping
semen. Please contact Sandra at Fieldstone Farm for Wonderful, and
Nicole at DG Bar Ranch for Rubino. Please use the semen
request forms at our website to make sure you have all the information
handy for the request. Please note that Wonderful and Rubino are
standing at different farms. |
March 27
 |
Rubino Bellissimo debuted
his FEI competition at Festival of the Horse CDI show at LA Equestrian
Center. He showed both Prix St. George and Intermediare-1. He
earned very respectable scores first time out despite his inexperience and
some tenseness in showing at this level the first time. |
March
10
 | Wonderful will be
standing at Fieldstone Farm in
Santa Rosa this season. This is a premier training and breeding
facility in the beautiful N. Cal Wine country. It is also being
developed into a top breeding facility with on-site stallion collection, AI
and live cover management. This will be the first time that we will
offer live cover service from Wonderful in the US. |
 | Rubino Bellissimo will
be standing at DG Bar Ranch.
The famous breeding farm of top Dutch horses and the host of one of the
largest and most competitive shows in the west coast should not require much
introduction. Rubino Bellissimo and our trainer Nicole Perry will
continue their partnership at the new location, and will compete at FEI
level this year. |
 | Wonderful's
granddaughter available for sale from the successful raiser of the super
star son of Wonderful, Winwood. Check it out at the For
Sale section. |

Not quite a news; however, a
couple of breeders asked about Wonderful's
German FN breed value translations,
so I figure I might as well include the information here. You will find
his prepotency is pretty amazing. Even with the new 2002 integrated breed
value computation, he is still in the all time top 200 sire list at the 64th
position, tied with Donnerwetter (Donnerhall's sire). He hardly had a
chance to show, and sired a lot fewer offspring in Germany than the other sires
to help him collect scores, yet he achieved these great honors. The chance
of his offspring being able to perform well should be pretty high!
The full translation on the column headings
are below. Based on the information, Wonderful has 44 offspring registered
with the competition organization FN, 18 of them won or placed, and based on
their placings, he received the breed value of 156 with the accuracy of 66%.
This evaluation does not include how many offspring the stallion produced, and
Wonderful sired only 99 foals in Germany, and 9 or 10 of them were exported to
the US (including the super mare - Wonder Girl, and Winwood, who represened
the US for the World Breeding Championship, and now competing at Prix St.
George at age 7), so you can see the percentage of
offspring that actually went to show ring in comparison to some stallions who
no doubt produced a lot more foals than Wonderful. Further more, you can see
in the chart, many stallions even have more offspring in the competitions, but
they did not place as well.
Wonderful's broodmare offspring have
done really well at breed shows and their offspring too. With only 99 foals,
7 of them are awarded states premium and 1 US Elite. In 2002, one Wonderful
daughter crossed with Lauries Crusador produced one of the top 3 half-TB foals
for Hanoverian mare show.

Happy New Year (belatedly)!
Nicole and Rubino Bellissimo went to CDS Dressage Symposium, where Debbie
McDonald, Guenter Seidel, and Sue Blinks taught for two days. Nicole and
Rubi were the demo rider for Sue Blinks, and they did really well, and Sue was
extremely complimentary, and frequently used, "That is exactly how it should be
done." |
 |
Nicole took Rubi to Conrad
Schumacher Trainers Clinic. Two symposiums back to back, and again Rubi
did great, and took on many challenging exercises that Conrad requested, and
Nicole was thrilled that Rubi performed all the exercises perfectly. |
